Here is some information about her from our national website, (those who use the Internet can read more on www.unitarian.org.uk/info/vpresident.shtml)
The Reverend Dr Ann Peart, a distinguished Unitarian scholar and leading woman minister was appointed as Vice-President of the General Assembly of Unitarian and Free Christian Churches at the close of the
Denomination's Annual Meetings in April 2010 in Nottingham. She is looking forward to visiting Unitarian congregations and other groups both in Britain and overseas. 'I am particularly interested' she says, ‘in exploring what keeps such a diverse collection of groups and individuals together'. Ann, who is a life-long Unitarian, retired recently as Principal of Unitarian College, Manchester. Her doctoral thesis was on the history of Unitarian women and the place of women in the Unitarian movement. The title of her service at Underbank will be "Elizabeth Gaskell - A heretical Unitarian?"
Our next intergenerational service is on July 4th 10.45am. This will be Flower Sunday and it will be followed by Bring-Your-Own-Picnic in the Schoolroom. Please contact June if you know of any children/young people who would like to take part. The theme will be flowers, and also ‘Cherishing our Earth'.
