Information for the Toy Service December 7th      From June

The Toy Service is an annual service at Underbank Chapel at the beginning of the Christmas Season. It is an Advent service with a focus on Gifts and Giving. Those who can, please bring gifts of either money or new toys as follows:

Money raised will be sent to Sheffield’s Family Action (a new name for the Family Welfare Association). Last year money raised was spent in several different ways to directly support Sheffield children. Here is just one quotation from the letter we received, ‘At Christmas we gave all of the families that we support £10 for each child; the money helped to contribute to their costs for Christmas Dinner and presents for the children’.

If you prefer to write a cheque, it is payable to ‘Family Action’.

Toys presents of new toys will be given to the Women’s Conversation Clubs in Sheffield. These Conversation Clubs are for Refugees and Asylum Seekers. Last year they were very pleased with our gifts of new toys- and they are pleased to hear we plan to send some again, this year! The children are mostly from babies up to age 10 or 12 years.

Child Dedication Ceremony

Our best wishes to Freddie David Milner, who was welcomed, named and blessed on Saturday November 15th at Underbank Chapel. Good wishes to Naomi, David and Luca and all the family.

Rev June Pettitt conducted the funeral on November 10th at Grenoside Crematorium.  Nancy Adams.  We were sad to learn of the unexpected death of Nancy on November 15th. Christmas Fayre (held on  8th November)

We spent a pleasant afternoon at our November meeting – reading funny poems and reminiscing about holidays, which caused happy laughter.  Our meeting on December 10th is our Christmas Lunch at the Plough, Bradfield.  Lunch is booked for 1.00 pm.

Edie.

Can you help us?

The stone caps from the gate posts at either side of the entrance to Underbank Chapel grounds were stolen about three weeks ago.  Please tell any chapel member or the police (who have been notified) if you know anything about this theft.    Thank you.
