'Our Young People' September 2011 - Raising Money for Sheffield Children's Hospital

Harry and Phoebe Revitt have received a letter of thanks from The Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity for their donation of £119.67 from their sale of plums, biscuits and buns.  The plum tree in their garden was laden so they bagged up the plums into large and small bags.  Along with friends Beth, Emily and Will they went to each house in the road and the next road and asked passers-by if they would like to help the Children’s Hospital by buying plums.  This led to a further venture – they made biscuits and buns and sold those also. The letter said the money would be used “to buy a special new piece of equipment for the doctors and nurses to use, or maybe to make the hospital a much brighter and more cheerful place for poorly children”.

All five friends received a certificate.

What is Unitarianism?

EdiscGreenUnitarianism is a religious movement which has evolved in the Christian tradition and originated in the Reformation of the 16th Century. It now recognises and upholds the right of each individual to seek and to find truth and meaning according to the evidence of his or her own experience.

Whilst affirming our Christian heritage, we recognise that wisdom may be found in the other spiritual traditions of humankind. We believe that religion must have contemporary relevance, and that it must be honest. To this end Unitarianism offers freedom of conscience and does not require its members to subscribe to set creeds, dogmas or articles of belief.
